On July 15, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., Zubovai Palace will host one of the events of the International Artists’ Symposium and Creative Workshop “Sun City of Šiauliai” programme – a screening of director Algimantas Puipa’s film “Ticket to the Taj Mahal” (1991).
Based on motifs from the short story “Fabijonas” by Romualdas Šavelis, the film tells the story of the Motuza family living in a post-war Lithuanian village, whose everyday life is overshadowed by constant visits from NKVD soldiers and partisan fighters. Under the pressure of this reality, Fabijonas begins to create his own, alternative inner world.
The film features well-known Lithuanian actors: Saulius Kizas, Ilona Balsytė, Mindaugas Andriukaitis, Nijolė Narmontaitė, Kostas Smoriginas, Vidas Petkevičius, and others.
The screening will be attended by director Algimantas Puipa, who will share insights about the making of the film, the creative process, and answer questions from the audience.
Event duration: approximately 2 hours
Organizer: Šiauliai Culture Centre
