Šiaulių City Concert Institution “Saulė” invites you to an exceptional evening of Japanese culture celebrating the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Lithuania.

On September 7, the “Saulė” Concert Hall will present one of the most vibrant symbols of Japanese culture – the traditional “Awa Odori” dance, which has a history of more than 400 years. It is an integral part of summer festivals in Japan, full of vitality, togetherness and joyful energy, attracting millions of spectators every year.

The stage will feature “Kikusui-ren” (Japan), one of the most renowned Awa Odori dance groups, founded in Tokyo in 1964. The ensemble is known for authentic performances combining traditional Japanese instruments – the shamisen and taiko drums – with rhythmic dancing and coordinated group movement. To preserve the Awa Odori tradition and introduce it to wider audiences, “Kikusui-ren” actively performs around the world, sharing the spirit, joy and vitality of Japanese festivals.

This is a rare opportunity to experience an authentic Japanese festival tradition that has brought generations together for more than four centuries and remains an integral part of Japanese culture to this day.
