On June 18 at 6:00 p.m., the Rėkyva Culture House of the Šiauliai Culture Centre will host the opening of Nijolė Masiliūnienė’s cross-stitch embroidery exhibition “A Threaded Journey Through Time.”
The exhibition presents a creative story shaped by dedication, patience, and personal experience, revealing the artist’s journey through the art of embroidery.
Nijolė Masiliūnienė is not only an artist but also a long-serving notary and an active member of the Rotary Club Harmonija. As a legal professional, she worked in notarial practice for 35 years and actively participated in community initiatives. Alongside her demanding professional career, she consistently devoted time to cross-stitch embroidery. This creative pursuit became an important source of balance in her life, allowing her to step away from professional responsibilities and immerse herself in a process that requires both precision and tranquility.
Her works feature floral compositions, landscapes, female portraits, and Oriental motifs. Some of the themes are inspired by her travels—having visited 74 countries, she has created pieces depicting women from different cultures and their symbolic meanings. Each artwork is crafted with exceptional precision, following detailed patterns and sometimes using dozens of different shades to achieve a single element.
The exhibition invites visitors to view embroidery as a way of life where discipline, aesthetics, and inner peace come together. It is a quiet yet deeply personal story about time, patience, and creativity, in which every stitch becomes a fragment of the artist’s life.
The exhibition will be on display until September 15, 2026.
Event duration: approximately 1 hour
