On Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 19:00, a slam poetry competition will take place on the rooftop terrace of the Photography Museum of the Šiauliai “Aušra” Museum.
REGISTRATION FOR PERFORMERS: https://forms.gle/XspxwbfG3sWHdQt7A
Protests have become part of our everyday life. Free speech is under threat. Freedom of creativity and self-expression is at risk. Neighbouring countries serve as an example of what we must not do. We must not stay at home, but go out into the streets, read, protest, and openly express dissatisfaction with attempts to limit our right to free opinion and speech.
Rules for performers:
– only original texts (allusions and postmodern approaches are welcome);
– performance time: 3 minutes per performer;
– performers should be prepared for three rounds;
– no restrictions on text format or genre;
– no props or instruments allowed.
Participants will receive specially created slam souvenirs and… 12 slam zines with texts by Andrius Limarenko!
The winner will receive a selection of books and an original print created especially for this occasion by artist Upė Lučiūnė.
Music during and after the slam will be provided by Arturas Vai.
The project “SLAMIFICATION: Creative Event Cycle III” is partially funded by the Šiauliai City Municipality.
Organizers – VšĮ “Begemotas”, Šiauliai Art Gallery, Photography Museum.
