The Šiauliai Art School, together with the Šiauliai First Music School and Busturas Ltd., presents a unique creative project symbolically marking the 790th birthday of Šiauliai.

The composition created by the children and teachers of the Šiauliai Art School, which will decorate the waiting hall of the bus station, is not only a visually striking artwork but also a profound symbolic interpretation of the city’s history, rebirth, and vitality.

  • Spring jorė symbols represent light, renewal, and awakening. Traditionally, jorė is associated with the return of spring, the awakening of the earth, and the intensification of life. These illuminated forms symbolize the vitality of the city, its ability to constantly renew itself and flourish.

  • The dark earthy green colour in the flowers recalls the city’s roots—its history, tradition, and the solid foundation on which the whole community grows. It is a tribute to the land from which everything begins and to the people who nurture it every day.

  • The golden birds symbolize rising upward, aspirations, freedom, and creative spirit. Gold also represents what we cherish in the city—what is important, valuable, and worth protecting. The birds can be compared to people: each follows their own path, yet together they shape the identity of the city.

The composition consists of 790 hand-cut and shaped elements, each reflecting one year of the city of Šiauliai’s existence.

It is like a mosaic of years in which the past, present, and future merge together.

Each detail has been created by the hands of young artists—which means that the city’s anniversary has been gifted authentic, living, youthful energy materialized through creativity. This is art that not only decorates, but also tells the story of the city.

During the event, musical pieces performed by the Šiauliai First Music School group “Rhythm Differently” will be heard. Their music will create an atmosphere in which the awakening of spring, festive solemnity, and the anticipation leading toward Easter come together.

It will be a musical journey accompanying themes of the city’s history, young creativity, and cultural rhythm.
