On June 19, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., the P. Bugailiškis Ethnology Centre of the Šiauliai Culture Centre will host the opening of the straw garden exhibition “Beneath the Golden Gardens.”

The exhibition features 25 traditional straw gardens created by members of the Association Dangaus Sodai from across Lithuania. Eighteen of the participating artists live in different regions of the country. What makes this exhibition, infused with the warmth of handmade craftsmanship, so special? First and foremost, its diversity. From the thickest and strongest straw to the finest and most delicate. From traditional rye straw to wild grasses. From simple single-thread constructions to double-threaded and even woven forms. From traditional gardens to complex geometric designs and contemporary interpretations. From unadorned creations to richly decorated works. From the familiar rhombus shape to intricate chandelier-like structures. From distinctive individual artistic styles to harmonious collective expression. From dark natural straw tones to bleached shades reflecting light and shimmering golden hues.

The exhibition will be on display until September 30, 2026.

Admission to the opening event is free.
Admission to the exhibition is subject to a fee.

Event duration: approximately 1 hour
