The International Day of Families is celebrated every year on May 15. This day was proclaimed by the United Nations in 1993 to highlight the importance of families in society and to encourage countries to strengthen family policies.

In 2026, the International Day of Families will once again bring together communities, organizations, and families around the world to celebrate the importance of close relationships, mutual understanding, and support.

It is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with loved ones and to thank parents, grandparents, guardians, and children for their love and support.

This day reminds us that a strong family is the foundation of a strong society, and that caring for one another helps create a safer and brighter future for everyone.

The Šiauliai City Municipal Public Health Bureau invites everyone—both young and old—to celebrate the International Day of Families at one of the most beloved places for Šiauliai residents – by the sculpture “Iron Fox.”
