Participants: ensembles of the Šiauliai Cultural Center — folklore ensemble “Salduvė” (Artistic Director D. Daknys), folklore ensemble “Vijolė” (Artistic Director A. Stankus), theatre studio “Durys” (Artistic Director V. Dargis); as well as the children’s and youth folklore ensemble “Vieversėlis” of Šiauliai Dainai Music School (Director A. Stankus), and the children’s and youth folk dance ensemble “Šėltinis” of Šiauliai Jovaras Progymnasium and Didždvaris Gymnasium (Directors V. and R. Laugaliai, G. Petrauskė, G. Urbonavičius).

The Šiauliai Cultural Center invites city institutions, companies, organizations, and communities not to remain indifferent to the “rule of winter” in their neighborhood and to actively join the Užgavėnės event “Terribly Beautiful Morės Farewell” by participating in the exhibition “Terribly Beautiful Morė” and the farewell procession.

The exhibition beauties — the Morės — will be displayed for 12 days (February 6–17) on Kaštonų Avenue. Residents of Šiauliai and city guests will be able to vote with “likes” for their favorite Morė on the Šiauliai Cultural Center’s Facebook page. Voting will take place from February 7 until February 17, 8:00 AM. The creators of the three Morės with the most likes will receive prizes.

Requirements for the “Terribly Beautiful Morė”

The Morė must be made of flammable materials and be weather-resistant to retain its original appearance outdoors;

Easy to transport — during the procession, the Morė must be carried by its creators;

Height: from 1.5 m to 2 m;

A 4.8 cm diameter pole must be attached to the Morė (to be collected from the Center or purchased independently); the pole will be mounted into a metal stand provided by the Center;

Weight: up to 10 kg.
